Cannabis does a range of things for a variety of people. It can be healing, promote creativity, increase energy, help you sleep, decrease anxiety and more. And while this medicine grows all over the world, over 90% of the worlds countries still deem cannabis illegal for recreational and/or medicinal use today.
Despite countries opening up their third eye to the incredible benefits of legalization, we must acknowledge the dark history that cannabis prohibition has had on creating policies and practices that drive systemic racial injustice. While white males dominate the licensed cannabis sales industry for the most part, building apple-like stores all over the country, there are still millions of people, mostly black, indigenous and people of colour, behind bars for selling the same green.
Cannabis was never meant to be a white mans weapon. In fact, dating back to the 3rd millennium BC, goddesses and plants were both considered healers. Up until 1000 BC womxn practiced healing without restrictions and until more recent history, womxn were not even allowed to attend medical school and womxn plant healers were hunted as witches.
So to all of the womxn-identified growers, dealers, healers, artists, activists, entrepreneurs, and political leaders who are working to destigmatize and decolonize cannabis - we stand behind you. You have always been and will always be a true ganja goddess.
Disclaimer: You do not need a uterus to be a goddess. A goddess is a state of being not a biological trait.
